Our music video for our song 1995 is now out.
1995 is a song that Anders wrote about growing up with their brother Bayden, and cousin Taryn in the 90's. We used found footage from childhood VHS tapes and recent cellphone videos to portray a story of love, laughter and friendship that bonds like that can forge.
The band recorded a livestream discussing the creation of Exhale, their most epic and favourite song. Jon and Anders (Candace) discuss how the idea for a ten minute epic began, the composition process, the meanings behind the lyrics, and why vocoders rule!
Exhale is an epic, electronic, multipart journey through trauma and out the other side. From the initial drop of a throbbing, dark, modular synth, through to the final, airy, appegiated beats of the fade out, Exhale shifts and weaves through complex textures and changes that do not disappoint.
It begins in the familiarity of choking darkness, moves through through the false freedom of denial, and ends in the triumphant release of self acceptance.
Exhale is Waveform Mountain's must-hear song!
Our fifth single, Ignite, is considered by many to be Waveform Mountain's best song.
The spark of inspiration came from a story that Jon told Anders (Candace):
In the summer before he first moved away from home, Jon sat by the Cowichan River on a beautiful summer day contemplating the future that he was about to embark on. He drew a Tarot card to meditate on; the Ace of Swords. He saw this as a message that he must remain steadfast and measured, even as change and chaos might rage around him. The card could represent a sword of Justice, but could just as easily turn into a sword of vengeance.
Anders extrapolated this into Ignite, a beautifully soaring message, reminding each of us to remain connected to the experiences that make us truly feel alive.
